The low light-reflecting properties of these paints make them super forgiving for rough surfaces. The flat surface absorbs light instead of reflecting it, so it hides any cracks and marks. These finishes are a good pick for ceilings that have a popcorn finish, or rental walls that have seen better days. (Flat – 0% to 4% gloss) (Matte – 5% to 9% gloss)
EGGSHELLGLOSSYMATTE / FLAT
One of the two most common choices for walls across the painting industry, and eggshell in particular is a best-selling sheen with Sherwin-Williams. A solid choice for walls in living rooms or bedrooms. This finish has some of the style of the flat and matte paints, but with a bit more durability against scuffs. (10% to 25% gloss)
A satin paint finish has less gloss than the first two finishes, but is still washable. It will not show as many imperfections in the surface. A satin paint finish is a good for doors, trim, cabinets and furniture. Satin is a beautiful luster that is often described as appearing velvety. (26% to 40% gloss)
Semi-gloss is best used on even, properly prepped walls. Both are easier to wipe clean than the typical matte or flat paint, too, thanks to the higher resin content. A better pick for high-traffic areas, like mudrooms or hallways, and areas that need frequent cleaning, like kitchen backsplashes or exterior doors. (41% to 69% gloss)
High gloss paint is very shiny. It’s easy to clean, but it will show all imperfections in the surface you’re painting. So, if you have an older house, it may not be the best choice. It’s good for high traffic areas. Not usually used for walls or furniture, but can be good for trim and doors. (70% to 89% gloss)
Premium smooth finish involves covering the fastener heads and tape between boards with drywall compound twice, sanding after each coat, skim-coating the whole surface and then sanding again. No flaw-covering texture is applied. It's important when using glossy paint or if light falls on the area to show any flaws.
LIMEWASH3D WALL PANELSPREMIUM SMOOTH
Here’s another old-become-new thing. It’s described as limestone that’s been crushed and mixed with water to make a putty, which is then aged and thinned with water and color pigments. Applied to the wall, limewash gives a surface that’s mottled, with a chalky texture, a look that has recently started trending in design circles.

Josh Schaffer and his crew were absolutely fantastic!! Our project was quite extensive, every wall, door, baseboard, trim, window and ceiling! They did a beautiful job. Our home looks brand new again. His crew is so meticulous and take pride in their work. They were all so very polite and respectful. They wanted it to look perfect just as much as we did! We also feel it is important to note that they also were 100% on board with staying safe during COVID19. The crew wore masks, kept distanced, washed surfaces and sanitized often. We remained on separate levels and they took every measure to ensure everyone was safe. Extremely important during these times! We would highly recommend Epic Painting and working with Josh and his team to anyone! Excellent work!

I found Epic Painting online for a restaurant remodel I scheduled in Madison, WI. After working with them the first night I knew they would satisfy all my requirements. They were fast, clean, and did a professional job. They did such a nice job I hired them to come paint two more remodels in Eau Claire and Appleton. It was worth paying for them to travel, because I knew I would get what I was looking for in return. Thanks for a job well done Epic!
